T-Mobile’s apparent myTouch 3G HD gets spied from the rear

So, how do you feel about the look of this myTouch 3G HD we’ve been seeing this week? Haven’t formed a complete opinion yet? Well, maybe this new shot — seemingly of said phone’s backside — will help

T-Mobile myTouch 3G Slide coming June 2 for $180

So T-Mobile’s myTouch 3G Slide — the QWERTY-enabled version of the venerable myTouch 3G — has been priced and dated, and we’re happy to see that “expected to be available in June” has turned out to mean the very beginning of the month; June 2, to be exact, in your choice of red, white, or black. What makes us less happy, though, is the notion of paying $179.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate for an Android device that now has the unenviable job of lying in the massive shadow created by the brilliant EVO 4G . Granted, the two phones are for very different carriers, but that doesn’t really excuse T-Mobile from offering up a phone with a lower-class processor, 40 percent of the screen resolution, and three megapixels lopped off the camera for just $30 less upfront, does it?

myTouch Slide found in the wild, looking good in red

Yeah, we saw the myTouch Slide back in January , but it certainly seems to have come a long way in the past few months. For starters, the phone is on now, showing off a slightly custom Android UI and that 480 x 320 screen.

Netflix for Wii now ‘fully available’ to all users

Netflix discs have already been shipping out to quite a few Wii users for a couple of weeks now, but Nintendo and Netflix have only just now finally announced that the discs and service are “fully available” to all users as of today. So, if you weren’t among the rather large initial group, you should be receiving your disc any day now (if you haven’t already), and you can of course still request a disc from Netflix if you haven’t done so — assuming you have a Netflix membership, that is

NASDAQ and CEA announce Smartphone Index

The NASDAQ isn’t exactly our usual beat here at Engadget, but it’s not every day that a consumer electronics market segment gets elevated to the status of having its own index, which is what the stock exchange has now done with a little help from the Consumer Electronics Association . They’ve teamed up for the NASDAQ OMX CEA Smartphone Index, which consists of 84 companies that are involved in one way or another with the “building, design and distribution of handsets, hardware, software, and mobile networks associated with the development, sale and usage of smartphones.” We’re having a bit of trouble tracking down the complete list of companies included in the index, but it does apparently have the usual suspects like Apple, Google and RIM, and it has started out with a valuation 250.00. NASDAQ and CEA announce Smartphone Index originally appeared on Engadget on Mon, 12 Apr 2010 15:54:00 EST.

myTouch 3G with 3.5mm headphone jack hits T-Mobile’s store, now with less Fender

No offense meant to Eric Clapton, but not everybody wants a faux wood phone . And yet, it seems like there are many folks in this subset scattered across this fruited plain who’d like a real 3.5mm headphone jack on their phone, and for those crazy people there’s at last the T-Mobile myTouch 3G to suit them

T-Mobile Fender MyTouch 3G in the wild, due for launch January 20

A lot’s happened since T-Mobile first announced the myTouch 3G Fender Limited Edition , but if you’re looking for last-gen Android hardware in the sweetest case around, your wait is almost up: test units are going our to T-Mobile reps, and that formal launch will occur on January 20th. No word on pricing, but we can’t imagine it’ll be cheaper than the current myTouch 3G, especially since it adds a much-needed 3.5mm headphone jack and has that fancy woodgrain finish, bundled 16GB microSD card, and preloaded music

Powermat CES 2010 lineup hands-on

We just swung by Powermat’s table here at Digital Experience, and we’re really digging the newest lineup of products out of the company. It’s offering up its appropriately titled power mats in sizes for one, two, or three devices, as well as specialized folding solutions for the car or when you’re not near an outlet. The place we see the real promise, though, is with the swappable batteries we heard about earlier.

Android 1.6 getting pushed to G1s starting tonight, myTouch 3Gs in a day?

This is totally out of left field, but TmoNews (which tends to have a pretty solid track record when it comes to all things T-Mobile) is claiming that “select” G1s will be receiving Android 1.6 “Donut” starting… well, right about now
