Well, we knew it wouldn’t take very long, and it didn’t: iFixit’s gotten its hands on Apple’s Magic Trackpad and ripped it to shreds. This is one operation they’re not shy about calling delicate, folks — this thing is seriously thin and its components packed in quite lovingly.

What is it about the word peel that screams “throw on the back of an iPod touch and grant it the power of mobile internet?” We spotted Yosion’s Apple Peel 520 just this morning bound for Chinese markets, and now the FCC has unveiled ZTE’s own Peel 3G router. Although the user manual and external photos don’t explicitly state it, one look at the (slightly enhanced) image above removes all doubt that this is made to fit snugly around a certain finger-friendly iDevice with a headset jack on the bottom right

Looks like AT&T and Alcatel-Lucent have finally sorted out the software glitch that’s resulted in slow HSPA upload speeds in certain markets — we were just told on the record that a patch is being rolled out and the update will be completed over the next two to three weeks. Sure, we’ve been hearing whispers that Apple’s got a new Mac Pros and some updated iMacs waiting in the wings, but our friend John Gruber at Daring Fireball seems just a mite more confident about things — in a post trumpeting the return of his podcast The Talk Show, John coyly says tomorrow “might hypothetically” bring new Mac Pros, speedbumped iMacs (we’d guess the Core i3 will make its OS X debut), and a new 27-inch 16:9 Cinema Display will all arrive tomorrow. John also says the Magic Trackpad might also arrive tomorrow, but he’s calling that one a “double-hypothetical,” so who knows — we’d think anything more serious than hardware refreshes would warrant a Jobs introduction, but hey, maybe Steve’s all talked out for the month. We’ll see what happens — stay tuned

This is a wild one, and we’re still parsing through the announcement, but on the surface it looks like the Library of Congress has added new anti-circumvention exceptions to the DMCA that, among other things, allow people to tweak their handsets for the purpose of installing legally obtained software — known as jailbreaking in iOS land, and rooting in the Android / webOS world. Check out the full statement from the Librarian of Congress, which is mostly an update of existing exceptions on record, after the break, but here’s the primary excerpt: Computer programs that enable wireless telephone handsets to execute software applications, where circumvention is accomplished for the sole purpose of enabling interoperability of such applications, when they have been lawfully obtained, with computer programs on the telephone handset.
