CTA announces PS3 Assault Rifle, dignity sold separately

CTA may be best known for its endless array of kid-friendly Wii accessories , but it’s not forgetting about the grown-up gamers out there — or, at least, grown-ups who enjoy shooting plastic guns in their living rooms. Its latest product is the $65 Assault Rifle for the PlayStation 3, which promises to add a whole new degree of “realism and excitement” to games like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 — oh, and it also makes sound effects even when you’re not playing a game. Head on past the break for the video.

Flight sim aficionados tend to be a fanatical bunch. It isn’t good enough if it isn’t as realistic as humanly possible, and as technology improves more and more things get more and more possible.

EPI Life phone sports ECG function, can let doctors know if you’re not gonna make it

It seems like the promise of connected, doctor-monitored mobile and at-home health services has been a little slow on the uptake, but here’s a promising step: a new phone from Singaporean firm Ephone that can run an ECG on you and send off the results for analysis. In this case, though, it seems like your doctor can’t provide you with this thing so he or she can keep an eye on your ticker — instead, you’ve got to sign up for a subscription with Ephone that runs between about $71 and $215 a month (depending on the monthly ECG upload cap), at which point the company’s own team of doctors can check out your results and make recommendations or dispatch emergency services if need be. The so-called EPI Life itself runs about $350 in some Asian markets, which can also be used to track glucose, cholesterol, and blood pressure (presumably with external sensors) and there’s a fancier model coming later in the year.

iGUGU Gamecore hands-on

Alright, we got a chance to check out iGUGU’s Gamecore setup , and we’re simultaneously impressed and disappointed. The fact that for $80 you can get all the hardware necessary to beam your PC video to your TV wirelessly and control games with a full QWERTY wireless controller is just plain great. We also love the form factor of the controller, since it’s basically a clone of the Xbox 360 controller — a little shameless, but our hands and fingers don’t seem to mind

We’ve seen plenty of methods for emulating PC input schemes from a couch , but nothing’s really beaten the tried and true “put a board across your lap” method. We’re not sure the new iGUGU Gamecore has a leg up on the competition, but you can’t fault it for trying

Blobo squeezable game controller bounces through the FCC

Befuddled by the Blobo squeezable game controller developed by an upstart company out of Finland? The FCC probably was to, but that didn’t stop ‘em from putting it through their usual battery of tests, tearing it apart, and giving us a glimpse at the user manual and our first real up-close look at the device itself. Of course, it is just a rubber ball packed with Bluetooth and sensors — but if you’re curious, you can find more pics where this one came from at the link below.
