” Runco ” and “cheap” have never, ever been used correctly in the same sentence before, but being elite apparently doesn’t mean that you can just turn a blind eye to rambling bandwagons. With just about every other projection company flipping out 3D -ready alternatives, Runco has decided it best to follow suit. The company has just added a fanciful pair of PJs to its Signature Cinema line, with the SC-50d and SC-60d both offering 3D playback with support for Active3D (active shutter) or passive glassed-based solutions.

Being tied to a disc hasn’t made for the easiest Netflix Watch Instantly experience on the PlayStation 3, but it has its benefits, and now that includes the ability for all users to search its library directly on the console. This feature’s been available to some for months before it was even announced the Xbox 360 would get parity in a fall update, but we can confirm it’s currently rolling out to all PS3 users. It should automatically update the next time you’re watching, so just slide left from Instant Queue on the top bar to live the glorious life of title searching that you deserve

The Halo series is no stranger to special edition Xbox 360 hardware , so it should come as no surprise that the latest entry, Halo: Reach , is also privy to such treatment. What makes it special, however, is that it’s the first special edition based on the new model — 250GB HDD, built-in 802.11n WiFi, a silver (presumably matte, based on the picture) finish, and custom, Halo-inspired sounds.

You won’t be coloring us shocked if this plays out exactly as rumored, but word on the street has it that Panasonic will be busting out a consumer-level 3D camcorder as early as next week. ‘Course, this is a company that already has a built-to-order 3D camcorder available to those with just over 20 large in need of a new home, and with the 3D push happening at a breakneck pace, it was just a matter of time before one of the big boys came along and served up an option for the Average Joe / Jane.

Here’s a tidbit in today’s Microsoft quarterly earnings that we previously overlooked: a $240 million cost of revenue “primarily… resulting from the discontinuation of the Kin phone, offset in part by decreased Xbox 360 console costs.” In other words, the company took at least a quarter billion hit due to manufacturing, distribution, and support costs of the Kin (according to Microsoft’s definition of “cost of revenue”)

Well, it’s about time. Touted back in March as one of the pillar apps to benefit from the new multitasking API, Skype has finally been updated to iOS 4 compatibility. We’re seeing crisper, more retina display-friendly graphics and, more importantly, background VoIP (not for iPhone 3G, naturally).
